Mark Zuckerburg's Meta is finally releasing its Meta AI chatbot to Indian users via Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and the meta.ai website.

The chatbot powered by the Facebook parent company's in-house Llama 3 LLM (Large Language Model). When the LLM was launched in April, some of the countries including Australia, New Zealand and Canada received the Meta AI rollout.

Its functionality is similar to that of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Anthropic’s Claude. One of the unique features of Meta AI is its availability on WhatsApp and Messenger avoiding the need to access a dedicated app. Meta AI can also access Google and Bing to answer queries to run web search.

The rollout is expected to take a few days to reach all users and once its available, users can click the blue-pink ring seen on the search bar of Meta apps to access the AI.

Like rival AI chatbots, Meta AI can perform task such as composing emails, planning trips, suggesting recipes, writing code, summarise text and translating besides creating images and GIFs.
