Barely a month after the nation celebrated the 148th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a bust of the 'father of the nation' was set on fire in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, according to reports.
The bust, installed at Gandhi Park in Joura in Morena district was vandalised by a group of unidentified persons. Police have registered a case under IPC Section 295 and launched a manhunt for the culprits. Section 295 deals with defiling places of worship or any object, held sacred with an intent to hurt the religious sentiments of a group of people.

Interestingly, the attack on Mahatma's bust comes at a time when the nation celebrates the birth anniversary of country's first home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and observes the death anniversary of former prime minister Indira Gandhi.
The Morena district was in the news recently after over 5000 people, including a large number of women in ghoongat, staged a dharna for nearly a week at a village in Sabalgarh tehsil.
