Incessant rain resulted in the group match between West Indies and South Africa being abandoned after just 7.3 overs in Southampton at the ICC World Cup 2019. Put into bat by the West Indies, the Proteas were struggling at 29/2, having lost Hashim Amla (6) and Aiden Markram (5) to left-arm pacer Sheldon Cottrell.

South Africa made two changes, bringing in Markram and Beuran Hendricks in the playing XI.

West Indies, too, had a couple of forced changes as they included Darren Bravo in place of injured Andre Russell and replacing Evin Lewis with Kemar Roach.

South Africa would be desperate for a win, having lost all their three matches so far, against England, Bangladesh and India.

The West Indies, on the other hand, won against Pakistan and lost against the Aussies.
