The United States India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) has recently launched a resource page to help Indian-Americans keen to work with the new Trump government. The committee seeks to aid the participation of the diaspora in various positions of governance at local, state and federal levels.
Sanjay Puri, USINPAC chairman, said that this site would help the diaspora channel its talent into the Trump administration. Donald Trump takes over as President of the United States on January 20.
Trump has shown his approval of the Indian diaspora during and after the campaign. He attended an event hosted by the Republican Hindu Association during the campaign, his daughter-in-law celebrated Diwali in Virginia while son participated in a puja in Florida. As President-elect, he has appointed Nikki Haly, South Carolina governor as US ambassador to the United Nations, Seema Verma, health consultant as head of the Centre for Medicare and Medicaid and Indra Nooyi, Pepsico CEO into his Strategic and Policy Forum.
USINPAC, which also works for closer ties between India and the US, has in the past been instrumental in getting a Diwali postal stamp launched by the US. It has already had two events with the Trump Transition team and is planning more in the coming month, including an ambitious inaugural ball.
