Janata Dal (S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who left the country last month after facing charges of sexually abusing several women, issued a video statement on Monday, saying he will appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 31.
Prajwal, the grandson of former prime minister H.D. Deve Gowda and son of former Karnataka minister H.D. Revanna, claimed that he had been suffering from depression.
"I apologise to my parents. I was in depression. I will come and appear before the SIT on May 31," he said in the video aired by a Kannada TV channel.
Prajwal further alleged that the case against him was fabricated. “I have faith in court and I am confident I will come out of false cases through court," he said.
"Let God's, people's and family's blessing be on me. I will surely come before the SIT on May 31, Friday. After coming, I will try to put an end to all this. Keep faith in me," he added.

Last week, Gowda had issued a stern warning to his grandson asking him to surrender before the police and face probe in the sexual abuse allegations against him.
Prajwal, who is seeking re-election from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, has been on the run ever since a huge cache of explicit videos became public, showing women being sexually assaulted allegedly by him.
Prajwal reportedly flew to Germany in the last week of April. An arrest warrant has been issued against him besides a blue corner notice by the Interpol.
The SIT set up by the state government to probe the case has requested the Ministry of External Affairs to cancel Prajwal’s diplomatic passport, on the basis of an arrest warrant issued against him by the court.
Last week, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wrote a second letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to take "prompt and necessary" actions to cancel the diplomatic passport of Prajwal.
Prajwal's father H.D. Revanna, an MLA from Holenarasipura, is out on bail in two cases. One is related to molestation of a cook, who was also allegedly raped by Prajwal, and the other relates to the kidnap of a woman.
