Dr Vishal Talwar, Director IMT Ghaziabad

Institute of Management Technology Ghaziabad (IMTG) has been instrumental in contributing skilled business leaders since the time it was founded in 1980 by Shri Mahendra Nath. Ever since, IMTG has been steadfast in helping in the process of nation building by timely transformation and a contemporary curriculum integrating technology oriented learning within management.

Director of IMT Ghaziabad, Dr Vishal Talwar avers, “In this day and age, technology and its ability to integrate with management and management learning is of paramount importance. Our focus and approach is aligned to create business leaders through an emphasis on practice driven contextualised education.” IMT Ghaziabad is keeping pace with rapidly evolving industry demands by offering specialised tech oriented courses such as Gen AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Natural Language Processing (NLP) which are designed to complement respective subject domains. Dr. Talwar states, “We are ensuring that learning is not just focused on the algorithm but also on business implications and decision making. This contributes to more well-rounded business graduates with a greater ability to create impact.”

Ranked consistently among the top B-Schools of India, IMT Ghaziabad’s management programmes focus on both breadth and depth. The institution is of the view that domain knowldege along with holistic development contributes to better leadership and thus the curriculum marries the both together. Differentiating new age courses, a focus on holistic development, technical skills, and the ability to apply these skills more readily addresses a business need and IMT Ghaziabad has modelled its curriculum around that.

Dr. Talwar emphasizes, “IMTG is proactively leveraging its global focus and networks by engaging practice driven national and international faculty to provide the right blend of meaningful global storytelling that expands horizons and learning.” He further adds, “this approach kindles curiosity, makes our students culturally dexterous and agile.”

Formalised internships, structured alumni mentoring programmes, project-based collaborations with industry sectors for enterprise and business improvement, besides research for markets and training sees a lot of student involvement exposing them to the real world workplace. In the process, students not only become well-versed with localised needs and trends, but also gain from opportunities to go abroad as part of academic exchange. IMT Ghaziabad has collaborations with over 55 foreign universities where students have the opportunity to gain exposure to a global multi-cultural environment, which also inculcates in them team-based learning and practices.

According to Dr. Talwar, “Cases and Simulations are another forte of IMT Ghaziabad. Our faculty are among the most prolific case writers, who are acknowledged globally. Last year, IMTG was ranked 22nd worldwide in the Case Centre Impact Index. Our faculty’s cases are not just taught in the Indian context but in many other B-schools across the world.” The B-school ecosystem is changing rapidly and IMT Ghaziabad has been making transformative changes which includes the creation of an incubation centre that mentors student start-ups. Dr. Talwar says, “By 2028, we would like 10% of our graduating students to launch their own start-ups.”
