The University of Kashmir (KU) on Sunday postponed all examinations scheduled for December 30, Monday, due to inclement weather conditions. The heavy rainfall witnessed in many parts of the Union Territory have made travel difficult for students, convincing the varsity to postpone all examinations scheduled for Monday.

A Kashmir University official was quoted as saying by local media that the revised dates for the postponed exams will be announced separately.

Kashmir received heavy snowfall on Friday and Saturday, news agency PTI reported, resulting in some areas of the valley getting cut off. All main highways and arterial roads have been cleared of snow for the movement of vehicles while the work is still on in some of the remote areas of the Union Territory.

Kashmir is currently under the grip of 'Chillai-Kalan' -- the harshest period of winter -- which began on December 21.

According to PTI, Gulmarg and Pahalgam in Kashmir continued to experience severe subzero temperatures while the rest of the valley saw slight relief from the cold wave, officials said on Sunday.
