Purvanchal was considered a back of the beyond region where even daily existence was a challenge. To say that medical facility was rudimentary wouldn’t be an understatement. It was in fact dismal, and doctors shied away from going to work or set up hospitals in the region. As a consequence the public, mostly poor, had to fend for themselves or die. It was under such pathetic conditions that Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh opened the multi-speciality Sharda Narayan Hospital in Mau, which has a longstanding credential of committed service to humankind spanning over two decades.
Sharda Narayan Hospital came has a ray of hope and consolation for the underprivileged rural folks of being provided the best medical facilities along with world- class healthcare. Under the leadership of Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, the hospital flourished in its capabilities, and spectrum of specialities which included Gynaecology, Cancer, Cardiac, Orthopaedics, Neuro and Eye diseases, by providing medical services of high benchmark. The setting up departments like ICU, NICU, CCU, Emergency, Blood Bank with Plasma facility, State-of-the-Art Cath lab, Indira IVF and Test Tube Baby Centre, Corona Ward, OT, ultrasound, dialysis, pathology, X-ray, telemedicine etc., all under one roof, eased the patients, from all hassle besides strengthening its outcomes and credibility of Sharda Narayan Hospital as the originator of modern medicine in Mau district guided by excellence and philanthropy at its core.

Keeping in mind the medical needs of the deprived population of the backward region, the hospital organizes regular camps for various health related issues, including Hypertension, Diabetes, Cancer Awareness, Anaemia, Asthma, Brain Stroke, Heart Attack Awareness, Eye Disease, Infant and Child Disease, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics etc. As part of social awareness and responsibility, the hospital so far has organised more than 4200 free medical camps and approximately seven lakh people have benefitted from distribution of free medicines. Besides, 23 children suffering from Thalassemia have been adopted by the hospital for providing them with complete health security, including blood. Per month, 40 units of blood is provided free of cost to thalassemia patients. Simultaneously, through the “Know Your Blood Pressure and Sugar Level” campaign, More than 5 lakh in BP Sugar Jano Abhiyan, 1.5 lakh people have been examined and 750 medical workshops have been organized with doctors from Mau, Azamgarh, Ballia and Ghazipur districts.
Under the direction of renowned Infertility specialist and Gynecologist Dr. Ekika Singh, the first Indira IVF Center of the state and the third of the country was established in the year 2013. Under the direction of Dr. Ekika Singh and the skilled supervision of embryologist Dr. Madhulika Singh, in the last 10 years, more than 2800 women from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Kolkata & Delhi along with countries like Nepal, Thailand and Mauritius got the happiness of motherhood.
