As an Ayurvedic doctor, Dr Anil Kumar is one of the most recognised names in the country for his efforts and research in HIV, and for successfully treating HIV patients. His life is a story of inspiration, struggles, and overcoming challenges. He possesses an earnest mind yearning to help people suffering from diseases using Ayurveda. He believes that Ayurveda should be positioned at the top of the medical science pyramid.
Family and Childhood
Dr Anil Kumar, born in Sohsarai in the Nalanda District of Bihar in 1967, received his primary education at Prayag Lal Sahu High School in the village. His father, Late Brijnandan Prasad Yadav, was a businessman and the head of Barara Gram Panchayat at Sohsarai. He wanted to give Anil Kumar a good education and bring glory to his village and family. After completing his B.Sc. from Kisan College in Bihar Sharif, Dr Anil Kumar was fairly successful at conventional jobs. However, he was not happy with them, finally deciding to follow his calling by stepping into Ayurveda. He did his Ayurveda degree in 1998.
Love and faith in Ayurveda
As a boy, Anil Kumar was observant, noticing that in his village, many people suffered from diseases and most of them never sought medical help to treat their diseases. Economic incapability, lack of knowledge, cost of treatments, inaccessibility to medical centres, etc. prevented them from seeking appropriate
medical help.
In his early years as a college student, Dr Anil Kumar realised that various diseases like digestion disorders and joint pains in older people were often recurring in nature. This is because conventional allopathic medicine often targets symptoms instead of eliminating the root problem. Dr Anil Kumar looked to Ayurveda to find an answer and bring succour to the people suffering from such recurring and common ailments. His initial research on Ayurveda made him realise that it had immense potential to provide sustainable cures to the masses.
He decided to employ Ayurveda effectively to serve the people and founded his project “Bhagwati Ayurved” in 2004. His experience and deep knowledge of various rare medicinal plants also earned him the Ayurveda medicine-manufacturing license in the same year.
Beginning of an Ayurvedic Journey
Dr Anil Kumar set up his laboratory near Rajgir, Nalanda. ‘Bhagwati Ayurved’ debuted with medicines like Cough Cure, Rumagold Capsule, D-Cure Tablet, Liverex, and Litone Syrup. The response to these medicines was immensely positive and encouraging for Dr Anil Kumar. Medicines like Liverex provided an effective, long-term cure to ailments as it acted on the overall chemical constitution of the body and balanced out Vata, Pitta, and Kapha — the three doshas explained in Ayurveda. During his practice Dr Anil Kumar realised that medicines like Litone had significantly improved the blood count and immunity of his patients suffering from anaemia and related diseases.
This motivated Dr Anil Kumar to further his research by applying Ayurvedic methods to treat HIV, one of the world’s deadliest and most fatal diseases. Most of the HIV positive patients who came to him were barely surviving on allopathic medicine, which was suppressing the virus and, in the process, was gradually weakening their immunity, leading to many low-immunity-related diseases and eventually death.
Deeply concerned by the prevailing scenario, he got involved in research of various rare herbs – medicinal plants known to boost immunity in Ayurveda. It was a long, difficult journey. He faced financial difficulties and had to navigate social taboos that proved to be a stumbling block in engaging with HIV patients. However, Dr Anil Kumar’s determination to uproot this disease kept motivating him. After much hardship and struggle, he has finally developed a path-breaking solution in the form of Bhagwati Constop. This incredible gift from Ayurveda reverses the dwindling immunity and can counter HIV, enabling the person to lead a perfectly normal, healthy life.
Instilling trust and confidence in patients
Dr Anil Kumar’s research was successful, but, the ultimate challenge was to ensure that it served humanity. The process of counselling patients and instilling faith and hope in them has not been easy due to the stigma attached to HIV. Even today, he has been involved with thorough checkups and vigil on the amount of CD4 and viral load present in his patients. Regular follow-ups are done to monitor the progress of the patient’s condition. Due to his perseverance, Dr Anil Kumar has been successful in completely treating many HIV patients, and they are now living normal, healthy lives.
Other research using Ayurveda
Besides HIV, Dr Anil Kumar has done deep research to find a remedy for HERPES, which is caused by Herpes Simplex Virus and is known to be highly contagious. Dr Anil Kumar was keen to find a remedy in Ayurveda for this ailment. He had undertaken extensive studies on the nature of the disease caused by Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) and its leading tendency. He has been finally successful with a highly effective remedy in the form of “Bhagwati Constop,” which saw many enhancements and modifications.
Now, “Bhagwati Constop” can work in countering the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and the Herpes Simplex Virus. He regularly checks on the developments of the patients by conducting medical examinations of HSV antibodies at regular intervals to provide a complete solution to their ailment. So far, he has successfully treated several HSV patients, who are now leading healthy lives.

Dr Anil Kumar inspires students with his unique journey of research in Ayurveda Medicine and the unconventional paths he chose to make it successful. While he has achieved great success and earned due recognition in his medical career as an Ayurveda Doctor, he found himself yearning for a deeper connection, a pivotal moment that redefines his sense of purpose. He feels that the transition from medicine to education can be a profound and life-changing experience, both for the individual making the change and for the students who will benefit from the expertise.
He followed his father, the Late Brijnandan Prasad Yadav, as the First College Secretary of RSLY College, Bihar Sharif, Nalanda. Additionally, Dr Anil Kumar is continuously involved in research to elevate Ayurveda to the highest standards. This has earned him immense trust and respect. He has appeared in many media events and shared his experiences.
Accolades and Awards
He is the recipient of the “Bihari Asmita Samman” and “Healthy Living” Awards by the media for his contribution to common people. His institute, Bhagwati Ayurved, was also given the “International Health Care Award” in 2018. In December 2021, Dr Anil Kumar was appreciated by the Indian Medical Association for his extraordinary service in organszing IMA NATCON 2021.
