CM’s UK visit

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has declared 2025 as the “Year of Industry and Employment” to promote industrial development in Madhya Pradesh. Under this initiative, the biennial flagship event, “Invest Madhya Pradesh – Global Investors Summit 2025”, will be organized in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh in February 2025. To promote the event and attract investors, interactive sessions on investment opportunities are being organized at national and international levels. After successful regional industry conferences across the state and interactive sessions in major cities across the country including Mumbai, Coimbatore, Bengaluru and Kolkata, the Madhya Pradesh government has started a six-day journey to the United Kingdom and Germany to promote the industrial development of the state and attract foreign investment. The objective of this visit is to showcase the immense potential of Madhya Pradesh in sectors like renewable energy, automobiles, electric vehicles, education, and food processing by promoting cooperation with local leaders and investors.

The Madhya Pradesh delegation led by Chief Minister Dr. Yadav includes a high-level team, which includes Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Sanjay Dubey, Principal Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Shri Raghavendra Kumar Singh, Public Relations Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade and Managing Director of MP Industrial Development Corporation Limited Shri Chandramouli Shukla.

On their arrival in London on the first day, Chief Minister Dr Yadav was warmly welcomed by Indian High Commissioner Shri Vikram Doraiswami and the Indian diaspora. Expressing his gratitude, the Chief Minister said, ‘It is a privilege to start my first international visit as Chief Minister from the UK. I thank the High Commission team for their guidance and support in making this visit highly impactful.’ On the second day, Chief Minister Dr Yadav met industrialists, and representatives of the British Parliament and visited major infrastructure projects like King’s Cross. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s UK visit is turning out to be an important milestone with a prestigious welcome ceremony at the British Parliament, highlighting the growing strategic partnership between Madhya Pradesh and the United Kingdom. Baroness Verma, President of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on India (Trade and Investment), welcomed the Chief Minister and his delegation to Westminster. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav had a fruitful discussion with Baroness Verma about strengthening economic relations between Madhya Pradesh and the United Kingdom.

The visit included an extensive tour of the historic Parliament House, with exclusive access to both the House of Lords and the House of Commons. This parliamentary visit symbolizes the deep democratic values ​​shared by both countries and sets a positive tone for future cooperation in trade and investment. The presence of the delegation in the British Parliament underlines the importance of state-level diplomacy in strengthening the broader India-UK partnership.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav visited the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Parliament Square, Westminster, and paid floral tributes.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said, “Our Regional Industry Conclave and Global Investors Summit across India have been a tremendous success, with global investors showing keen interest in the development of Madhya Pradesh. To facilitate this, I am committed to bridging the gap and we are dedicated to creating a smoother path for international cooperation. We align our vision with Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of unity and progress for all.”

The Government of Madhya Pradesh hosted a distinguished lunch, where Chief Minister Dr. Yadav shared the state’s vision for development and sustainability. He highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to green energy while emphasizing its leadership in India’s renewable energy revolution. Focusing on ease of doing business, the state is creating a conducive environment for growth, which offers unique opportunities in sectors such as tourism, agri-business, and agri-technology. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also shared that “Madhya Pradesh is at the forefront of India’s development, combining sustainable development with immense potential in sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy and tourism.”

After lunch, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav visited King’s Cross Station in London, a famous railway hub known for its historic architecture and modern transportation. Famous as Platform 9¾ from the Harry Potter films, the station serves as a major connection point for major routes including London St. Pancras and Eurostar. Built in 1852, King’s Cross is a large British railway station which was renovated in 2012. This is an example of smart transportation and building technology. This station connects many major cities in Europe.

The visit highlights the potential benefits for Madhya Pradesh, including the inspiration for the development of modern transport networks and passenger amenities in cities such as Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur. There is also potential to integrate diverse transportation systems and develop commercial hubs. The visit highlights the opportunities for Madhya Pradesh to adopt advanced urban development strategies, inspired by King’s Cross Station.

Interaction with Indian expatriates and Friends of MP in U.K.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav interacted with Indian expatriates in the UK and Friends of MP to outline the government’s vision and initiatives to promote investment and innovation for sustainable development in Madhya Pradesh. He also extended a “warm invitation to the United Kingdom to join Madhya Pradesh as a partner country for the upcoming Global Investors Summit to be held in Bhopal in February 2025. This Global Investors Summit will serve as a platform for international collaboration, showcasing the state’s immense potential for investment and innovation. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also invited prominent investors, policymakers, members of the Indian diaspora, and the Indian High Commission. He expected support from the Indian High Commission to promote the Global Investors Summit 2025 to establish Madhya Pradesh as a major investment destination for British businesses.

After three days of various interactive sessions, one-to-one meetings, and industry visits in Britain, the Madhya Pradesh delegation led by the Chief Minister will visit Germany on November 27, after touring Munich and Stuttgart. With this visit, the Government of Madhya Pradesh is committed to pursue industrial development through meaningful partnerships. By engaging with international stakeholders, the state aims to strengthen its position as a global hub for innovation and business, leading to the “Vikasit Bharat– Vikasit Madhya Pradesh”.
