Serving Society and Women

Dr Sanjay Singh

Building a new India requires commitment and vision. It need not be from a leader but can come from even a common Indian citizen. Dr Sanjay Singh represents that common person. He inspires his family, the people around him, and the nation.

Early days

Sanjay was a brilliant student and rich in prodigious talent since his student life. Son of Jagat Narayan Singh, an engineer in Mau, Uttar Pradesh, and a native of Naithi village of Azamgarh district, Sanjay was born in September 1969. He did his primary education at Queens College, Varanasi, till eighth grade. After studying from ninth to twelfth grade at Mau’s DAV Inter College, Sanjay Singh came to Allahabad keeping in mind the preparation for medical and enrolled in BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur in 1992. He did his MBBS in the same college in 1997.

After doing MBBS, Dr Singh came to Delhi in 1998 and served as a resident in GB Pant Hospital for one year. In 2000, Dr Sanjay left Delhi, returned to Kanpur, and did an MD in Medicine from GSVM Medical College. After obtaining an MD degree in 2003, Dr Sanjay Singh once again reached Delhi and gave impetus to his private practice. However, amid increasing pressure from the family, Dr Sanjay returned to Mau in 2005. He contributed to Fatima Hospital as a consultant physician and stayed with them till February 2008. He had a dream and wanted to realise it.

In 2008, Dr Singh started his private practice from a rented house and, within three years, started his private hospital on 17 November 2011. Built on 80 thousand square feet of 2.5 bigha land, all five floors of this 125-bed multi-speciality hospital was designed considering the better and more modern facilities to be provided to the patients, in which a helipad is also proposed.

Dr Sujit Singh, Dr Singh’s younger brother, an expert in critical care and pain management, says that the credit goes to his elder brother for starting ICU, NICU, stroke, and dialysis facilities for the first time in a small town like Mau. Thanks to this vision, the people of Mau no longer need to go out for major treatment.

Family

Dr Sanjay married Dr Ekika Singh in 2001 and they have two brilliant children. Daughter Sukriti Somvanshi is a student at Wisconsin University, Chicago, USA; son Shivansh Somvanshi is a cricketer and at Sports College, Bangalore.

Both parents instilled in their children that education is as important for a human being as food, so they should never compromise on education.

Resolve to realise the dreams of former Prime Minister

The story of Dr Sanjay Singh, a renowned physician and director of Sharda Narayan Hospital in Mau, Uttar Pradesh, is quite interesting. He has strong faith, good planning, and the indomitable courage to take risks in his profession, which he has achieved at just fifty, is praiseworthy.

Dr Singh is the director of Sharda Narayan and Paramedical Hospital located at Ballia Road, Garhwa, at a distance of eight kilometres from Mau, and Sharda Narayan Hospital, located in Mau. He is respected and loved in Uttar Pradesh for setting up Jannayak Chandrashekhar Hospital and Cancer Institute.

The former Prime Minister of India, the late Chandra Sekhar, inspired the setting up of a hospital in 1953, for which he helped secure 30 acres of land in Ibrahimpatti village of Ballia and the foundation stone was laid by Jai Prakash Narayan. Dr Sanjay Singh decided to start this hospital, which was closed for almost five decades, and Jannayak Chandrashekhar Hospital and Cancer Institute was made functional on 1 November 2022.

Former Prime Minister the late Chandra Sekhar’s family members say Dr Singh is a visionary who courageously took such a big and important step. Dr Sanjay gives credit for starting this hospital to the Chief Minister of the state, Yogi Adityanath, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, and Ballia District Magistrate Soumya Aggarwal, whose initiative helped start this hospital. This 150-bed state-of-the-art hospital run by Dr Sanjay Singh is today talked about in all of Uttar Pradesh, and Dr Singh’s picture is in the hearts of the people of Ballia.
