'The best way to spend Rs 20,000 is on a KGL item'

Designer Kanika Goyal on her Christmas pullovers from high school and more

My personal style is:  Effortless, comfortable, chic.

My personal style icon:  Jackie Kennedy, Bianca Jagger, South Korean musician Peggy Gou, actor Emma Corrin.

An item in my wardrobe that means a lot to me: My Christmas pullovers from my high school days. And a pair of KGL pants that I  can’t do without.

My favourite souvenir from my travels is:  A hand-painted leaf in a tiny glass jar from a street market in Puerto Rico. A friend gifted it to me in 2013 while we were there. Reminds me of the wonderful Caribbean summer.

The best gift I have received: A great, much-needed vacation from my partner.

The best gift I have given: A holiday to my mom and family for my mom’s 60th birthday recently.

The last thing I bought: A pair of Bottega Veneta slides from the men’s section.

The last book I read: 'Autobiography of a Yogi' by Paramahansa Yogananda.

The book 'Autobiography of a Yogi'

The last film I loved: 'Her' starring Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Rooney Mara.

My Spotify list would include these songs:  Usually songs by Dua Lipa, Drake, Justin Bieber and recently Sabrina Carpenter. Some jazz by Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.

My beauty/ wellness routine is:  I rinse my face with ice-cold water twice a day. I use a day cream and a night cream as suggested by my dermatologist. I swear by a good sunscreen. I try to drink at least 3-4 litres of water a day, I workout and meditate before my work day starts and I sleep for about 7-8 hours.

My favourite holiday destination:  My go-to destination would be London, Paris or New York. They feel like a home away from home.

I  love to collect:  In recent years, books may be, and good home linen.

My fridge always has:  Recently, an ice face roller and an ice pack. Some dark chocolate and sparkling water most of the time.

Minimalism or maximalism:  I love both but maybe I’ll bend more towards maximalism.

My home looks like:  A zen den. Crisp white walls and basic, no-fuss furniture. A minimal, uncluttered space with a few artworks, houseplants, rugs and tabletop accents that bring a sense of peace and calm.

My favourite mix of traditional and contemporary is: My jewellery.

My best ideas come when:  Early morning, or in solitude. But also when brainstorming with my team.

The best way to spend Rs 20,000 is: Buy a KGL piece.

My idea of happiness is:  A state of inner peace, bliss and contentment. It is a deep sense of fulfilment and well-being that arises from being in alignment with my true authentic self.
