My personal style is: Eclectic, authentic, old-school with a massive contemporary 1950s take. I design a lot of my own clothes and love anything vintage. I have a wardrobe full of late 70s to mid 80s Issey Miyake which I absolutely adore.
My personal style icon: An imaginary character that embodies Grace Kelly, Caroline Besette-Kennedy and Al Capone with a side of Comme De Garçons.
An item in my wardrobe that means a lot to me: My spray-painted grey full- length John Galliano knitwear coat that looks like a nightgown. It’s just so chic.
My favourite souvenir from my travels is: Antiques.
The best gift I have received: My dad’s vintage Porsche.
The best gift I have given: My time to people who didn’t deserve it.
The last thing I bought: Rick Owens Converse shoes. They are too dusty to be photographed!
The last book I read: 'Cold Comfort Farm' by Stella Gibbons.
The last film I loved: I have not watched anything in over a year. I much prefer to read.
My Spotify list would include: 'Vogue' by Madonna; a good Micheal Jackson 'Beat It' remix; anything Dua Lipa DJ Duo Lipo; Tinlicker’s Anjunadeep Set; any of the selected labels DJ sets Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone, and lots of house music. Especially the 80s remixes.
My beauty/ wellness routine is: Three hours of Pilates a week. Weight lifting for six days a week, and 10,000 steps every day. Hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C, retinol, multi-peptide, under-eye Vitamin K eye cream from Minimalist. A naturally crushed pearls serum and a gold serum from Zahara skin care. I eat lots of vegetables, and I eat no gluten and no dairy. I also believe in no drama!
My favourite holiday destination: Anywhere that’s clean, has amazing food, lots of sunshine, culture and the general population don’t go to bed at 10pm.
I love to collect: Beautiful discarded objects that have a life and beauty of their own.
My fridge always has: Champagne, red wine, anchovies, garlic sauce, gluten-free bread and bottled olives in it. ( I use the olive brine to make Dirty Martinis).
Minimalism or maximalism: Maximalism until it all gets too much, then minimalism to give my brain some resting space. It’s a constant tug of war. And a battle of redecoration. But as I get older, the key pieces and less clutter are nicer.
My home looks like: Brutalism, modernism and eclecticism decided to have a three-way after a chic lunch of oysters and French fries.
My favourite mix of traditional and contemporary is: Tribal pieces from Nagaland. Which one can purchase from my store Makaan, Jaipur.
My best ideas come when: Life has my back against a wall and I need to find solutions to various problems, and I am having a meltdown. That moment when I accept it all, shrug my shoulders and surrender. That moment is when my best ideas come to me.
The best way to spend Rs 20,000 is: At a bar which closes at dawn, with great music, cocktails and friends. Where it all inevitably gets very out of hand.
My idea of happiness is: Overrated. The battle to be content and in the moment is what I try and strive for. That and not murdering people for general incompetence.
