What is Hormone replacement therapy?
Hormone replacement therapy or HRT replaces the hormones that your body isn’t making enough of. According to the Mayo Clinic, Feminizing hormone therapy or gender-affirming hormone therapy can help better align the body with a person's gender identity.
It is used to make physical changes in the body that are caused by female hormones during puberty. It involves taking medicine to block the action of the hormone testosterone. It also includes taking the hormone estrogen. Estrogen lowers the amount of testosterone the body makes. It also triggers the development of feminine secondary sex characteristics.
