Mukesh Ambani has joined the exclusive $100 billion dollar club that has only 10 other people including Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
After his wealth increased by $23.8 million this year, Ambani's net worth is $100.6 billion. Reliance Industries Ltd's stock had soared on Friday, pushing him into the elite club.
As Asia's richest man, he is also currently the only one from the continent in the $100 billion club.
The list is topped by Elon Musk, followed by Jezz Bezos, Bernard Arnault, Bill Gates, Larry Page, Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin, Larry Ellison, Steve Ballmer and Warren Buffett.
Ambani had unveiled his move into green energy in June, when he pledged to invest $10 billion over three years. In September, he said his company would aggresively pursue production of green hydrogen.
Ambani and Adani Group founder Gautam Adani had overtaken Chinese billionaire Jack Ma in the global rankings.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index is a daily ranking of the world's richest people.
