Founder of edutech start-up Byju's, Byju Raveendran, recently spoke about how he fell in love with his student Divya Gokulnath, who later became his life partner.

Speaking at a recent media interaction, Raveendran was asked how their romance began.

He said he used to teach in big auditoriums and it was difficult to notice any particular student. He noticed Divya as she used to stay back and ask a lot of questions. "I don’t know when it changed and we became life partners."

They got married in 2009.

Speaking about their love affair, she said the idea that opposites attract does not apply in their case. "I say that’s a reel-life phenomenon, not a real-life situation."

Divya said it is good to have a like-minded partner. "Those who know us say we are like chalk and cheese, very different personalities, but inside, our values are exactly the same," she said at the India Today Conclave.

Apart from their work, they are passionate about their children (they have two sons), family and travel.
