Ratan Tata conferred highest Australian civil honour, the Order of Australia

Chairman emeritus of Tata & Sons Ratan Tata has been granted the highest Australian civil honour, the Order of Australia, for the contributions he made in boosting the economic ties between India and Australia.

The award was presented for his efforts in promoting trade, business, and philanthropy between the two countries.

Australia’s High Commissioner to India Barry ‘O’ Farrell, shared a few pictures of the award ceremony on Twitter. In a tweet, he said Tata is a titan of business, industry and philanthropy not just in India, but in Australia as well, as his contributions have made a significant impact in that country.

"Ratan Tata is a titan of biz, industry & philanthropy not just in 🇮🇳, but his contributions have also made a significant impact in 🇦🇺. Delighted to confer Order of Australia (AO) honour to @RNTata2000 in recognition of his longstanding commitment to the 🇦🇺🇮🇳relationship," his tweet read.

According to media reports, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has 17,000 employees, the biggest Australian workforce for any Indian company.
