Go First cancels all flights till May 9, DGCA asks to refund passengers

Operational crisis-hit Go First airline has cancelled all its scheduled flights till May 9. The airline in its release said that they will issue a full refund to the passengers shortly.

“We regret to inform that due to operational reasons, Go First flights scheduled till 9th May 2023 have been cancelled. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the flight cancellations. A full refund will be issued to the original mode of payment shortly,” read the release.

Go First has also suspended sale of tickets till May 15 as well.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that the airline is working to refund or reschedule existing bookings for future dates.

Earlier, the airline had cancelled all its flights on May 3 and 4.

"Go First has intimated that they have suspended sale of their flights till 15 May 2023 and are working to refund or reschedule for future dates, the passengers already booked to fly with them," the regulator said in a statement.

DGCA had directed the airline to process the refunds to passengers in stipulated time.

The Wadia group-owned airline had sought various interim directions from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), including restraining lessors from taking back aircraft.

Go First has liabilities worth Rs 11,463 crore and has sought voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings. The plea by the airline is heard by the Delhi bench of the NCLT on Thursday.

Another plea raised by the airline was that DGCA, AAI should not cancel any departure and parking slots allotted to the company.

The airline had said that non-supply of engines by Pratt & Whitney resulted in grounding more than half of its fleet.
