Mahindra shows off new Pik Up and Thar electric concept

Collaborates with A.R. Rahman to create a sonic identity and brand anthem

Mahindra & Mahindra, on Thursday, unveiled the 'Global Pik Up' a concept pickup truck based on Mahindra's Scorpio-N SUV, a product representing a well-considered approach to entering newer international markets while strengthening its presence in existing ones.

"The new Global Pik Up marks a significant step in Mahindra's Go-Global Strategy. Our move with the Global Pik Up is poised to not only reinforce our presence in existing markets but also pave the way to new frontiers," said Veejay Nakra, president – Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra.

The Global Pik Up has been designed as a versatile, robust, and stylish vehicle, suitable for a wide range of applications. Based on a new generation ladder frame platform, the pickup truck aims to meet global standards, including a 5-star safety rating. It will also come with other features, including a four-wheel drive system, 5G connectivity, level-2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) and immersive audio among other things.

Pickup trucks are popular in many global markets. The Global Pik Up will be initially launched in existing markets, including South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Middle East among others. Subsequently, it will also be launched in the ASEAN region.

Apart from the Global Pik Up concept, Mahindra also showcased an electric version of its iconic Thar SUV on Tuesday.

The Thar.e will be based on Mahindra's Inglo - born electric (BE) platform and will be equipped with an all-wheel drive electric powertrain.

The electric Thar's construction will also incorporate 50 per cent recycled PET and recyclable uncoated plastics.

It will also feature adaptable, modular, and swappable components.

Mahindra has also collaborated with A.R. Rahman to create a sonic identity and brand anthem for the company's forthcoming range of the new Born Electric Vehicles.

A new visual identity was also unveiled for Mahindra Electric's forthcoming range of electric vehicles.
