BSE shifts Bankex expiary from Friday to Monday

Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) announced on Wednesday that the expiry day of BSE Bankex derivatives contracts has been shifted from Friday to Monday. The new expiry date will come into effect from October 16.

Derivatives contracts allow investors on the BSE to speculate on the future price movements of the Bankex index.

In a circular, BSE said, “Based on the feedback received from diversified set of Market Participants, the Expiry Day of S&P BSE BANKEX derivatives contracts in equity derivatives segment will be revised to Monday Expiry effective October 16, 2023."

According to media reports, this has been done to align the expiry day with international practices.

"New contracts of S&P BSE Bankex with Monday expiry will be generated on October 13, 2023 end of day and will be available for trading with effect from October 16, 2023," the circular said.

Based on the revised schedule, the F&O expiry schedule, from October 16, will be as follows:

Nifty Midcap Select and BSE Bankex: Monday

Nifty Financial Services: Tuesday

Bank Nifty: Wednesday

Nifty 50: Thursday

Sensex: Friday

From September 6, the weekly expiry of Nifty Bank contracts, which is currently on Thursday, will be on Wednesday.
