Air India flight attendants to soon ditch sarees for contemporary wear designed by Manish Malhotra?

The colour of uniform will remain the same

Flight attendants of Tata-run Air India may soon bid adieu to the traditional sarees which is their current uniform, possibly by the end of this year.

According to a Hindustan Times report, designer Manish Malhotra will come up with the new, more contemporary wear for Air India flight attendants. There will, however, be traditional options for the new uniforms as well. The new wardrobe is likely to be launched by November.

While churidars will be one of the options for women, men will have suits as uniforms.

However, according to a source, sarees may not be completely discontinued. Various options were given to the airline, which included ready-to-wear sarees that look like saree but are not draped like the traditional ones, a source has been quoted as saying, adding that the management is yet to finalise on anything.

The colour of the uniforms will remain the same—deep red, aubergine, and gold.

Air India is yet to come out with an official announcement in this regard.
