Kia Corp, on Thursday during an event called EV Day, unveiled three new electric vehicles (EVs)—two electric compact sports utility vehicles (SUVs), EV5 and EV3, and an electric sedan EV4.

According to Reuters, the company said it plans to develop a wide range of EVs priced from $30,000 to $80,000. It also plans to launch smaller EVs like the EV5, EV4, and EV3.

The company said it intends to launch the EV5, the third dedicated EV in its line-up after the EV6 and EV9, in South Korea in 2025.

"The EV market is expanding from one catering to the smaller early-adopter group to a more broader mass majority of customers. Our competitive, growing EV line-up will accelerate the popularisation of electric vehicles and provide consumers with more options from which to choose," Spencer Cho, head of the Global Business Planning Sub-Division at Kia has been quoted as saying.

The EV5, the target customer base of which is millennial families, takes inspiration from the design of EV9 SUV and has the standard 64-kilowatt-hour battery. It also comes with long range (88kWh) and long range AWD (88kWh) battery pack.

It can be charged from 30 per cent to 100 per cent in just 27 minutes and promises about 530 km on a single charge. It is equipped with a dual-integrated 12.3-inch display and has a five-inch climate control panel.

Kia EV5 comes with seven airbags and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems. Besides, there is a four-liter refrigerator and warming unit.
