What is Amazon Q? Generative AI-powered biz chatbot to rival Google's Duet AI, Microsoft's Copilot

A preview version of Amazon Q is currently available with free-to-use features

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced Amazon Q, a new generative AI-powered assistant specifically designed for work, at its AWS re:Invent 2023 event in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

The company says Amazon Q can be customized by businesses to generate content, take action, write articles, have conversations and even solve problems. "Amazon Q has a broad base of general knowledge and domain-specific expertise. It is secure and private, in practice and by design. Amazon Q is designed to help customers meet stringent enterprise requirements," AWS said in a statement.

Amazon Q can help developers and IT professionals by assisting in building, deploying and operating applications and workloads on AWS.

AWS CEO Adam Selipsky said his company is ready to help businesses reinvent with the new "promising tool for innovation", reported PTI. Pointing out that the innovation around Generative AI model is "explosive", Selipsky said, "GenAI will reinvent every application we interact with, at work and at home...From startups to enterprises, organisations of all sizes are getting going with Generative AI. They want to take the momentum that they are building with early experimentation, and turn it into real-world productivity gains," he added.

A preview version of Q is available currently with free-to-use features. After the preview period, business users can use the tool for $20 per person monthly, reported CNBC. Developers and IT professionals looking for additional features need to shell out $25 per person monthly. Business professionals need to spend $30 per person monthly for Microsoft 365's Copilot and Google Workspace's Duet AI.
