Tesla lays off entire US 'growth content' team

The team was set up barely four months ago

American multinational automotive and clean energy company Tesla laid off its entire US "growth content" team as part of the company-wide job cuts.

According to a Bloomberg report, the Elon Musk-led company eliminated a team of 40 employees under senior manager Alex Ingram.

Ingram, who was also laid off, had begun building his team very recently—about four months ago.

There were also job cuts in the company's design studio located in Hawthorne, California, according to media reports.

The move comes even as investors have been urging Musk to increase focus on marketing as more competitors have entered the EV market.

Reacting to the news of job cuts, Musk, in a tweet, said about the content team's assignments: "The ads were far too generic - could've been any car."

Meanwhile, shares of Tesla climbed higher on Tuesday ahead of the company's first-quarter results.
