The market valuation of companies listed in BSE soared on Monday

Sensex soared to lifetime high after exit polls predicted a landslide victory for the NDA in the Lok Sabha polls and a third term for Narendra Modi as Prime Minister.

With investor confidence at a high amid prospects of a stable government and policy continuation, the 30-share BSE benchmark leaped 2,777.58 points (3.75 per cent) to touch an all-time peak of 76,738.89 in morning trade.

How much did Indian investors gain?

Investors grew richer by Rs 12.48 lakh crore during the early trade on Monday. Following the massive bull run on Dalal Street, the market valuation of companies listed in Bombay Stock Exchange zoomed Rs 12,48,952.68 crore, striking a record high of Rs 4,24,61,833.82 crore.

In the Sensex basket, all the 30 companies were trading in the green. Power Grid, NTPC, State Bank of India, Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra, IndusInd Bank and Axis Bank were the top gainers in the index.

The numbers are expected to further go up, if the exit poll data reflects in the elections results after the votes are counted on Tuesday.
