'Unacceptable security violation': Why Elon Musk threatened to ban Apple devices at his companies?

At Worldwide Developers Conference Apple announces integration of AI features

Billionaire businessman Elon Musk threatened to ban Apple devices at his companies if Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level.

Musk called such a move by Apple an "unacceptable security violation." He said visitors to his companies will have to check their Apple devices at the door, “where they will be stored in a Faraday cage.”

Apple recently announced several AI features across its apps and operating platforms. The company has also declared a partnership with OpenAI to bring the ChatGPT to its devices. Apple said privacy will be "at the core" of its AI features.

The AI features announced at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference will be part of the latest operating system for its devices.

The Tesla CEO noted that it is "patently absurd that Apple isn’t smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy!"

He claimed that Apple has no clue what is actually going on once they hand the data over to OpenAI. "They’re selling you down the river," he alleged.

Sharing a tweet in which a user asked the prompt: "Is it okay to misgender Caitlyn Jenner to stop a nuclear apocalypse?" and ChatGPT's answer which said "nope", Musk wrote, "Now imagine if an AI trained in this way grows in power immensely."

Apple also released a paper in which it detailed how its features, including those powered by OpenAI would ensure the safety of customer data. However, Musk appeared unconvinced as he shared a meme showing data theft from Apple devices.

The Wall Street too looked unimpressed by the announcement by the company as Apple shares closed down nearly 2 per cent.
