Hyundai Motor India, the second largest auto manufacturer in the country, is mulling a record-breaking initial public offering (IPO) and has filed preliminary papers with market regulator SEBI. If the IPO comes to fruition, it will be the largest in India, surpassing LIC's share-sale of Rs 21,000 crore.

The proposed IPO by the Indian arm of Hyundai is entirely an offer for sale (OFS) of 142,194,700 equity shares However, the draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) revealed that there will be no fresh issue component. Hyundai Motor India will not receive any proceeds of the IPO as the public issue is completely OFS.

The previous time a car maker came up with its IPO was in 2003, when Maruti Suzuki was listed. The South Korean automaker began operating in India in 1996. Ola Electric has also got SEBI nod to raise funds through an IPO.

LIC | IPO

The IPO issue size of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), listed of May 17, 2022, was Rs 21008.48 crore with an offer price of Rs 949 apiece. The closing price on listing day was Rs 875.45 with a loss of 7.75 per cent. Total subscription was Rs 62,006.53 crore.

One97 Communications | IPO

Paytm parent company One97 Communications was listed on November 18, 2021 with an issue size of Rs 18,300 crore with an offer price of Rs 2,150 per share. When the market closed on the listing day, the stock was trading at Rs 1564.15 with a 27.25 per cent loss. Total subscription was recorded at Rs 34,568.70 crore.

Vodafone Idea | FPO

Vodafone Idea FPO was listed with an issue size of Rs 18,000 crore on April 25, 2024. The offer price Rs 11 apiece and when the market closed on the listing day, the stock was trading at Rs 13.09 with 19 per cent gain. Total subscription was calculated at Rs 1,25,820 crore.

Coal India | IPO

Coal India, a Central Public Sector Enterprise, was listed on November 4, 2010, with an issue size of Rs 15,199.44 crore and an offer price of Rs 245 per share. The closing price on listing day was Rs 342.35 with a gain of 39.73 per cent. Total subscription was Rs 2,32,247.44 crore.

Yes Bank | FPO

Listed on July 27, 2020, issue size of Yes Bank FPO was Rs 15,000 crore while the offer price was Rs 12 apiece. On listing day, the stock closed at Rs 12.30 with Rs 2.50 gain. Total subscription was Rs 13,974 crore.

Reliance Power | IPO

With an issue size of Rs 11,563.20 crore, Reliance Power was listed on February 11, 2008, making it the oldest in this list. It was offered at Rs 450 per share but the stock closed on the listing day at 372.50 with a 17.22 per cent loss. Total subscription was Rs 8,44,576.13 crore.

General Insurance Corporation of India | IPO

On October 25, 2017, General Insurance Corporation of India IPO was issued with a size of Rs 11,175.84 crore. The offer price per share was Rs 912 and the closing price on listing day was Rs 870.40 apiece, with a loss of 4.56 per cent. Total subscription was recorded at Rs 15,422.66 crore.

SBI Cards and Payment Services | IPO

The issue size of SBI Cards and Payment Services, which was listed on March 16, 2020, was Rs 10,354.77 crore. With an offer price of Rs 755, the stock closed on the listing day at Rs 683.20 at 9.51 per cent decline. Total subscription was Rs 2,74,830.18 crore.

NMDC | FPO

Issued on March 30, 2010, with a size of Rs 9,930.45 crore, NMDC FPO came with an offer price of Rs 300. On listing day, the stock closed at Rs 294.65 per share at 1.78 per cent loss. Total subscription was Rs 12,368.37 crore.

The New India Assurance Company | IPO

The New India Assurance Company came with an issue size of Rs 9,600 crore at an offer price of Rs 800 per share. When the stock closed on November 13, 2017, the listing day, it was trading at Rs 725.05 after plunging 9.37 per cent. Total subscription amount was Rs 11,493.12 crore.
