Meta Platforms reached out to Apple to integrate the social media giant's AI chatbot into iPhone some months ago but the Cupertino giant rejected the offer, said a report.
The two tech giants are currently not in discussion for an AI partnership, Bloomberg News reported on Monday, citing sources.

Why did Apple shun Meta AI?
The potential partnership failed to reach a formal stage as Apple was not keen on integrating Meta's in-house Llama 3 LLM (Large Language Model) with the iPhone or other devices.
One of the main reasons for Apple's rejection is the Facebook parent company's privacy norms, which the iPhone maker believes are not stringent enough, according to Bloomberg News.
Meanwhile, Apple, which unveiled its "Apple Intelligence" features in the recent WWDC event, where it said OpenAI's ChatGPT will be brought into its devices. An agreement with Google-parent Alphabet over its Gemini AI chatbot is also under consideration. Apple is already collaborating with Google with regard to its Safari web browser.
Meta AI rolled out in India
On Monday, Meta AI was rolled out to Indian users who can now access the Llama chatbot on Meta apps including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. Users can click the blue-pink ring seen on the search bar of Meta apps to access the AI.
Its functionality is similar to that of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Anthropic’s Claude. Like rival AI chatbots, Meta AI can perform task such as composing emails, planning trips, suggesting recipes, writing code, summarise text and translating besides creating images and GIFs.
One of the unique features of Meta AI is its availability on WhatsApp and Messenger avoiding the need to access a dedicated app. Meta AI can also access Google and Bing to answer queries to run web search.
