Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Bajaj Auto and Kia see surge in June sales; Hyundai, Audi see a dip

Toyota Kirloskar Motor saw a 40 per cent increase in last month's sales

Automakers including Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Maruti Suzuki India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Auto and Kia India saw a surge in their June sales while others like Hyundai Motor India and Audi India witnessed a dip in their figures.

Toyota

Toyota announced on Monday that June 2024 saw a 40 per cent increase in its sales – its best-ever monthly figures – at 27,474 units as compared to 19,608 units in the same month last year. The latest figures include domestic wholesale of 25,752 units and export of 1,722 units.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki reported a rise of 12 per cent in its total wholesale figures by dispatching 1,79,228 units to dealers last month compared to 1,59,418 units in June 2023. The company sold 1,37,160 units of domestic passenger vehicles June 2024 compared to 1,33,027 units in the year-ago month, which is a growth of 3 per cent. It also exported 31,033 units last month compared to 19,770 units in the same month of 2023.

Mini-segment cars, including Alto and S-Presso, saw a plunge in sales from 14,054 units in June 2023 to 9,395 units last month. Sales of compact cars, which include Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR, was recorded at 64,049 units last month compared to 64,471 units in the June before.

Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross and XL6 in the utility vehicle segment saw sales of 52,373 units in compared to 43,404 units in the same month last year while Eeco sales were reported at 10,771 units in June 2024 compared to 9,354 units in the year-ago June. Sales of light commercial vehicle Super Carry dipped from 2,992 units in June 2023 to 2,758 units last month.

Mahindra & Mahindra

Mahindra & Mahindra said its wholesales increased 11 per cent year on year to 69,397 units in June from 62,429 units in the year-ago month.

Its domestic passenger vehicle sales soared 23 per cent to 40,022 units last month against 32,588 units in June last year while total exports climbed 4 per cent to 2,597 units last month from 2,505 units in the same month last year.

Kia India

Kia India announced that it dispatched 21,300 units to dealers last month, which a 10 per cent hike from the year-ago month's sales of 19,391 units .

It also reported that its sold 1,26,137 units in the first half of 2024, which marks a 6 per cent growth over the year-ago period.

Bajaj Auto

Bajaj Auto revealed on Monday that its total vehicle wholesales saw a 5 per cent year-on-year growth at 3,58,477 units in June compared to sale of 3,40,981 two-wheelers and commercial vehicles in the year-ago June.

It said the total domestic sales rose 8 per cent to 2,16,451 units last month against 1,99,983 units in June 2023 while exports rose 1 per cent to 1,42,026 units from 1,40,998 vehicles.

Hyundai Motor India

Hyundai Motor India reported a slump of 1 per cent in its total wholesales, from 65,601 units in June 2023 to 64,803 units last month. Domestic sales remained flat with 50,103 units being sold in June 2024 against 50,001 units in the year-ago June. Exports plummeted by 6 per cent from 15,600 units in June 2023 to 14,700 units last month.

The total sales figures was recorded at 3,85,772 units for the January-June period compared to 3,65,030 units in the corresponding period last year.

Audi India

Audi India saw 6 per cent decline in its retail sales with 1,431 units being sold during the June quarter ending June 2024 against 1,524 units sold in the year-ago quarter.
