Tata Motors on Friday revealed the much-awaited Curvv sport utility vehicle, ahead of its launch on August 7.

The company in recent years has emerged as a strong player in the utility vehicle space with models like Nexon, Harrier and Safari. The Curvv is only expected to drive sales for the company further.

"With the Curvv, we have broken the clutter in the effervescent and aspirational mid-SUV category by introducing India’s first SUV coupé, providing best-in-segment performance and never-before-seen practicality," said Shailesh Chandra, managing director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility.

According to Tata Motors, the vehicle's design emphasises aerodynamic efficiency, featuring a sharply sloping roofline and large wheels that enhance its dynamic proportions.

It further added that Curvv’s interior is designed with the Indian family in mind, offering spacious and uncluttered cabin space, integrated with advanced technologies and premium finishes. Some of the features include a panoramic glass roof and reconfigured boot space to enhance storage capacity.

Advanced infotainment systems, large screens, and connected car technology will also be part of the package.

The Curvv will be available in multiple powertrains, including petrol, diesel, and electric.

The Curvv was showcased as a concept electric vehicle back in 2022. It will be launched on August 7 in Mumbai and the electric variant is likely to be launched first, followed by ICE [internal combustion engine] variants.

This mid-size SUV will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the upcoming Citroen Basalt, which is also likely to be launched next month.

The electric Curvv will compete with the MG ZS and the BYD Atto 3.
