Zomato registers profit for fifth straight quarter; sees 126.5 pc increase in net profit

The company reported EBITDA margin of 4.2 per cent

Beating the Street estimates, Zomato, on Thursday, reported 126.5 per cent increase in net profit for the April-June quarter to Rs 253 crore.

Aided by increased demand for food and grocery delivery services, Zomato's revenue from operations increased 74 per cent year-on-year to Rs 4,206 crore.

The company reported EBITDA margin of 4.2 per cent.

Income from food delivery rose to Rs 321 crore, compared Rs 186 core a year ago.

This is the fifth straight quarter that the food delivery giant registered profit.

It was the same quarter last year that Zomato reported profit for the first time at Rs 2 crore. Its revenue then stood at Rs 2,416 crore.

The shares of the company has been on the upswing ever since the company reported profit, rising over 180 per cent in one year. Shares of the company jumped over 2 per cent on Thursday, to close at Rs 234.
