Apple has decided to lay off approximately 100 jobs in its digital services group, reported Bloomberg, citing sources. Some of these reportedly included engineers.

The most impacted team was the one responsible for the Apple Books app and Apple Bookstore while Apple News team also saw job cuts, according to the outlet. The affected workers were informed on Tuesday.

In 2024, the Cupertino giant has seen at least four rounds of layoffs. These included hundreds of employees laid off from the now-defunct self-driving car project and the microLED display project. In January, the iPhone maker had laid off 121 employees working on AI technologies at its San Diego office. Apple earlier suspended its work on a high-end Vision headset.

The latest move comes amid 6.5 per cent loss recorded in the previous quarter as the US company faces hurdles in China. According to Apple's latest annual report, the tech giant had approximately 161,000 full-time equivalent employees as of September 30, 2023.

This comes after Apple appointed Kevan Parekh as its next Chief Fiancial officer. He will replace  Luca Maestri, who has been serving as Apple CFO for a decade, and will assume the role on January 1, 2025. Parekh, 52, has been with Apple since June 2013 and is currently serving as the Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis.

Separately, Apple has announced that it will unveil the much-anticipated iPhone 16 models and the special event is taglined, "It's Glowtime". The iPhone 16 lineup is expected to include the base models, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, and the top-end iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
