Open AI is reportedly working on a futuristic AI-centric computing device with the help of former Apple design chief Jony Ive, according to a report.

The team-up, which was revealed by The Information last year, was confirmed by Ive in a report published by The New York Times.

The report said Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky, who had previously worked with Ive's design firm, LoveFrom, set up a meeting between OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and the former Apple design chief.

Ive who was employed with Apple for around three decades established LoveFrom in 2019. At the Cupertino giant, the design guru was the brain behind iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and Apple Watch.

Altman's new AI startup has also received private funding from Emerson Collective, a philanthropy firm founded by Powell Jobs. It plans to raise $1 billion by 2024 end.

This comes months after former Apple executives Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno's Humane Inc came up with a standalone screenless wearble called Ai Pin. The $699 device has an untra-wide RGB camera that can capture images.
