When will Apple roll out iOS 18.1? Here's how it's different from latest iOS 18.0.1 that is crucial for iPhone 16 owners

Apple recently rolled out iOS 18.0.1 weeks after the release of its new iOS 18. However, both version do not offer the much-anticipated Apple Intelligence features that are expected to be loaded on iPhone 15 Pro models and all models of iPhone 16 lineup.

The Cupertino giant will roll out Apple Intelligence in phases starting with iOS 18.1, which should not be confused with iOS 18.0.1, a security update.

Why is iOS 18.0.1 crucial for iPhone 16 owners?

Unlike iOS 18.1, the latest iOS 18.0.1 is a security patch that provides key bug fixes and updates. The security update will fix the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro touch screens that might be temporarily unresponsive in certain circumstances.

Another fix is for the iPhone 16 Pro camera that might freeze when recording macro mode video on Ultra Wide camera in 4K with HDR turned off.

It will also fix performace impacted due to memory allocation issue. Another isssue is messages unexpectedly quitting when replyying with a shared Apple Watch face.

When will iOS 18.1 be released?

Apple fans are awaiting the arrival of AI features on their devices, including Mac, iPads and iPhones. iOS 18.1, which will bring the Apple Intelligence features on iPhone 15 Pro models and the latest iPhone 16 series models, is expected to be rolled out mide-October. However, an exact date is yet to confirmed by the California tech behemoth.
