Did you know Apple decided to kill its pet self-driving car project and asked its engineers to focus on the roll-out of 'Apple Intelligence' as a priority? Such is the AI-driven competition in the smartphone market that the Cupertino giant had to ensure that the iPhones are not falling behind its Android rivals. Thus the company decided to pull the plug on the self-driving car project that has been worked on for over a decade for the sake of Apple Intelligence.

Earlier, it was reported that the company will roll out Apple Intelligence in phases starting with iOS 18.1, which should not be confused with iOS 18.0.1, a security update.

According to the latest reports, the first version of Apple Intelligence is landing sans many of the most hyped features that were announced in June. It will be dropping without an inbuilt ChatGPT bot despite Apple striking a deal with OpenAI regarding the same, The New York Times confirmed on Saturday.

The wait for Siri to get smarter should also continue as Apple has hinted that it will not be before 2025 that the digital assistant could stitch together data from multiple apps and keep you focused and caught up.

However, the audio transcription and proofreading options will be included in the first version, the NYT report said. Also coming is the option to generate summaries of web articles and a button for removing unwanted distractions from photos -- all part of the Samsug S24 Ultra already. In the soon-releasing version of Apple Intelligence, the features are integrated into different parts of the software system.

Apple Intelligence features are expected to be loaded on iPhone 15 Pro models and all models of the iPhone 16 lineup. Some iPads and Macs released in the last four years will also support the feature.
