When Deepinder Goyal filled the shoes of a delivery agent, the CEO got first-hand experience of issues faced by Zomato executives while collecting orders. He was denied entry into a Gurugram mall and was asked to take the stairs instead of elevators or escalators.

The incident happened at Ambience Mall in Gurugram, where Goyal and his wife Grecia Munoz turned delivery executives. When he tried to get into the mall using the main entrance, he was stopped by security guards who told him to take the stairs via another side entrance.

In a video posted on X, Goyal is seen climbing the stairs to the third floor and having a chat with fellow Zomato delivery partners.

He begins the video, saying, "Here's what happened during the second order I delivered... We reached Ambience Mall in Gurugram to pick up the order from Haldiram's... Was told to take the other entrance, and realised that they are asking me to take the stairs... Went in again on the main entrance to make sure that there aren't any elevators for delivery partners..."

He then climbed the stairs. "Took the stairs to the third floor... To realise that we can't enter the mall and have to wait at the stairs to receive the orders. Chilled with my fellow delivery partners while also getting valuable feedback from them."
