After Dharma Productions made headlines over rumours about Reliance Industries takeover, filmmaker Karan Johar grabbed attention over the social media bio of his production house, where it says he is the "owner".

The X and Instagram bios of Dharma Productions read, "Jigra o, ab ki teri baari oh!❤️ Owned by Karan Johar & CEO Apoorva Mehta”. This comes amid reports claiming that Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries is planning to acquire a stake in the production house.

What is Karan Johar's net worth?

Karan Johar has a net worth of Rs 1,400 crore, as per Hurun India Rich List 2024. The list placed him fifth among Bollywood stars.

The filmmaker has been criticised for splurging on lavish accessories like Rs 27 lakh H Togo Hac Casaque Birkin bag. However, Johar silenced his critics, saying he works very hard for the money he made, often working 16 to 20 hours daily. "I am never going to apologise for that," he said in an interview with Faye D'Souza.

Johar has been looking to monetise a part of his 90.7 per cent stake in Dharma Productions. His mother, Hiroo Johar, also has 9.24 per cent stake in the company.

Earlier, reports suggested that Sanjiv Goenka-led Saregama was in talks with Dharma Productions over a potential stake sale but the deal reportedly did not go forward.
