BSE-listed Nazara Technologies Ltd announced on Friday that its subsidiary and eSports label Nodwin Gaming acquired gaming-content aggregator Trinity Gaming for a total consideration of Rs 24 crore, underscoring the rapid advancement in the sector.
The deal, which encompasses Rs 4.8 crore in cash and Rs 19.2 crore in equity-swap consideration, brings Trinity Gaming’s agency business and YouTube multi-channel network (MCN) to under Nodwin’s wing, essentially expanding the latter’s capabilities in eSports and gaming content production and publishing.
Trinity Gaming, with its brand identity firmly rooted in the niche community and gaming market, will continue its identity with its founders still working out of its New Delhi base. Trinity, founded in 2019 by Abhishek Aggarwal and Shivam Rao, quickly became a top player in the Indian gaming influencer ecosystem, especially during the post-pandemic era, which saw a spike in online gaming activity.
Trinity manages more than 1,000 creators in the gaming industry and is the only gaming multi-channel network for YouTube in the country. It is also a creative service provider for Meta, which encompasses Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook.
According to the deal announcement, Nodwin plans to expand Trinity to more emerging markets in Africa, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East through its existing business networks.
Nodwin co-founder Akshat Rathee said that it expects the deal to help strengthen its footing in the current market. “This acquisition allows us to offer more holistic solutions to our partners, from content creation to marketing services, while continuing to build a thriving gaming ecosystem in India,” added Rathee.
Abhishek Aggarwal, one of Trinity’s founders, said that he was “excited about the future” of Trinity. With the acquisition, Nodwin also looks to increase its digital footprint around new audiences, especially the youth demographic.
This is not Nodwin Gaming’s first major industry move. It now owns the Comic Con and NH7 Weekender brands in India, German esports agency Freaks 4U Gaming, Singapore-based events company Branded, and Turkish marketing firm Publishme, along with the gaming company Ninja Global. In 2023, the Nazara unit was valued at USD 349 million. Apart from Nazara, even Sony Group has invested in Nodwin.
