India’s biennial marquee Auto Expo ‘The Motor Show’, set to open next month on January 17, is expected to see the maximum number of participating vehicle manufacturers—thirty-four—to date. The Auto Expo was first conceptualised in 1985, with its first edition in 1986.
“Around 34 vehicle manufacturers would be participating at the exhibition,” said Rajesh Menon, director general of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). SIAM is organising the 17th edition of the Auto Expo at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. This time, the event will be held under the ambit of Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, in partnership with ACMA and CII.
Major homegrown brands such as Tata Motors and Mahindra and Mahindra will be joined by the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Kia Motor India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Hyundai Motor India, JSW MG Motor and the embattled Skoda Auto Volkswagen India.
Among the luxury automakers, Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, and Chinese electric major BYD are expected to showcase their offerings at the event.
The expo also attracts the two-wheeler segment, with Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor Co, Honda Motorcycles, Suzuki Motorcycles, and India Yamaha highlighting their latest models. Royal Enfield, which recently created waves at EICMA 2024, is expected to be at the event as well.
Among other participants are commercial vehicle giants Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles, Ashok Leyland, JBM, and Cummins India.
