Taiwanese footwear major Hong Fu breaks ground, to start ops in India from Jan 2026

Taiwanese footwear major Hong Fu Industrial Group is all set to start its India operations from Ranipet near Chennai in Tamil Nadu in January 2026. The Adidas, Nike supplier marked its India entry on December 16, by laying the foundation stone for a massive manufacturing facility at Panapakkam in Ranipet district. 

The facility will come up at Panapakkam SIPCOT industrial park at a cost of Rs 1,500 crores and provide jobs to over 25,000 people. The footwear major has promised to recruit 85 per cent women workforce for manufacturing international brands. 

The setting up of the facility by Hong Fu which is a supplier for international brands like Nike, Converse, Vans, UGG, Puma, Adidas, Reebok, HOKA, Under Armour, and the popular Swiss brand ON, will be yet another addition to Tamil Nadu’s efforts to position the state as a hub of the non-leather footwear sector. 

The Grand Atlantia- Hong Fu India Project will come into operation in January 2026 and the Taiwanese company will manufacture non-leather and athletic footwear from this facility in Tamil Nadu. 

Hong Fu, being the second largest manufacturer of athletic non-leather footwear, produces close to 200 million pairs of sports shoes every year. It generates three billion USD in revenue through shoe manufacture by partnering with global brands.
