Want to get your hands on the brand new electric origin sports utility vehicles from Mahindra and Mahindra? The home grown utility vehicle will begin phased test drives of the BE 6 and XEV 9e from January 14 and bookings open simultaneously on a month later on February 14. Deliveries are expected from early March.
Mahindra had unveiled the two all electric SUVs, built on its brand new INGLO electric skateboard architecture in November 2024 and their sporty coupe designs and long range had caught everyone's attention.
The top end, or Pack 3 as the company calls it, will cost Rs 26.9 lakh ex-showroom for the BE 6 and Rs 30.5 lakh for the more premium XEV 9e.
Mahindra had revealed prices of the starting variants of the two electric SUVs in November with the BE 6 costing Rs 18.9 lakh ex-showroom and the XEV 9e priced at Rs 21.9 lakh.
The Pack 3 variants of both the SUVs will get 79 kWh battery packs and with a real world range likely over 500 km it will take away the range anxiety people have with EVs, claimed Veejay Nakra, president, automotive sector, M&M, and joint MD at Mahindra Electric Automobile.
The certified range as per MIDC is 683 km for the BE 6 and 656 km for the XEV 9e. Using a 175 kW DC fast charger, the two SUVs can be charged from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in 20 minutes, according to Mahindra.
Do note that the price does not include charger and installation cost, and billing will be done with either of 7.3 kW or 11.2 kW charger options.
Also, importantly, bookings will be initiated for the top variants only for now with people increasingly prefering feature packed vehicles.
"The response to our electric origin SUVs has been phenomenal, with customers showing a strong inclination towards high-end technology, and premium features. In response, we will initiate bookings only for the feature-loaded pack three in 79 kWh for both BE 6 and XEV 9e on February 14, 2025," said Nakra.
With monthly EMIs, similar to those for the base (pack one) variants with its finance programme from Mahindra Finance, Nakra says the company wants to make premium EVs mainstream.
Some of the top-end features in the SUVs include an 110.08 cm wide display in the XEV 9e, a 16 speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, level 2+ ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) with 5 radars, autopark feature and augmented reality heads up display.
