Chinese automaker BYD launched its premium SUV Sealion 7 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It is the fifth model for India from the company, which trails only Tesla in global electric vehicle sales.
The BYD Sealion comes with a top driving range of 567km, and it can go from 0 to 100km in just 4.5 seconds. The motor that can go up to 23,000rpm, BYD claimed, is the fastest mass-produced motor.
The Sealion will be available in two variants—Premium and Performance. Both have the same 82.56kWh battery pack, but the Performance variant is a bit quicker than the other.
The Premium variant, on the other hand, offers a slightly better range (567km against 542km). While the Premium variant is a rear-wheel drive, the Performance variant is an all-wheel drive.
The Sealion 7 comes with all the bells and whistles you can expect in a premium electric SUV. A 15.6” rotating centre screen, quilted Nappa leather seats, 128-colour ambient lighting, high-fidelity sound from 12 Dynaudio speakers, ventilated and heated front seats, heated rear seats, and a 50W wireless phone charger.
The Sealions 7’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality can be an emergency power source that can supply energy to your devices and appliances. BYD is the first company to mass produce efficient, long-lasting LFP low-voltage batteries. They are much lighter than conventional batteries, have much lower self-discharge consumption and have a lifespan of 15 years.
BYD has opened the bookings for the Sealion 7. The introductory offers include BYD adding Rs 70,000 to your booking amount of Rs 70,000, a seven-year/1,50,000km warranty on battery and free installation of a 7kW home charger.
