The US has accused China of extending "very substantial" support to Russia in its war against Ukraine in return for "closely guarded military tech on submarines and missiles."

According to media reports, the United State's Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell claimed that the latest materials that China is supplying to Russia are not dual-use capabilities, but are being directly applied to the Russian war machine.

The reports of Chinese military aid to Russia come amid strict sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU).

“These are component pieces of a very substantial effort on the part of China to help sustain, build and diversify various elements of the Russian war machine," he was quoted as saying.

According to Campbell, the governments of both Russia and China are trying to " hide and protect certain elements of this worrisome collaboration."

His claims come even as China has repeatedly denied supplying arms for the war against Ukraine, and clarified that it maintains a "impartial position" on the Russia-Ukraine war.

In return, Russia is supplying China with submarines, missiles and other technologies. "The capabilities that Russia is providing is support in areas where previously they had been frankly reluctant to engage directly with China," Campbell was quoted as saying.

Campbell said the new military technologies that China is getting from Russia pose a danger to countries like India, the US, Japan, Australia, and South Korea.
