Naval Commanders’ Conference from Tuesday; strategic, operational, administrative issues to be in focus

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the commanders on matters regarding national security and expectations

The second edition of the Naval Commanders’ Conference, which aims to facilitate discussions on major strategic, operational, and administrative issues between the Naval Commanders, will be held in Delhi from Tuesday to September 24.

Being held against the backdrop of evolving geo-political and geo-strategic dynamics, regional challenges, and complexity in themaritime security situation in West Asia, the biannual conference plays an important role in shaping the future course of the Indian Navy, the defence ministry said in a release.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the commanders on matters regarding national security and expectations.

The Chief of Defence Staff along with the chiefs of the Indian Army and Indian Air Force will engage with Naval Commanders to enhance collaboration between the three services across the spectrum of conflict.

The Chief of the Naval Staff, who will address the conference, will review major operational, materiel, logistic, HR development, training and administrative activities pursued by the Indian Navy over the last six months and focus on major milestones to be crossed to safeguard maritime interests.

The commanders will also review the ongoing Naval projects under the ‘Make in India’ programme. During the conference, a comprehensive review of the operational preparedness, inter alia discussions on the Navy’s capability enhancement plan, promoting the national vision of self-reliance, and realising the combat effectiveness of Naval forces will be done.
