Indian Navy Chief Admiral Tripathi's UAE visit: What's on the agenda?

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi will be in UAE from Monday to Thursday, during which he will hold talks aiming to boost maritime ties between India and UAE

Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi will begin his four-day visit to UAE on Monday, aiming to consolidate and strengthen the bilateral maritime relations between India and UAE and explore new avenues of cooperation between the navies of the two countries.

The visit is in line with deepening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and UAE across all sectors.

During his visit, Admiral Tripathi will hold talks with the Commander of the UAE Naval Forces Rear Admiral Pilot Saeed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, and other senior government officials.

He will also visit the National Defence College of UAE and interact with the student officers.

The cooperative engagements between the Indian Navy and the UAE Navy include operational interactions through port calls, bilateral naval exercises and reciprocal visits, navy-to-navy staff talks, as well as Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC). The India-UAE JDCC was established in 2006. Since then, 11 rounds of talks have been held.

A few days ago, the Indian Navy's Shardul-class tank landing ship INS Shardul concluded its port call at Port Rashid, Dubai, during which cross-training visits and community outreach activities were conducted with the UAE Navy.
