A unique software, developed by Integrated Defence Staff in collaboration with Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N), was launched on Wednesday during the annual meeting of the Joint Electromagnetic Board (JEMB), a subcommittee of the Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC).
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations) Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, and attended by senior officers from the three services, DRDO, DDP, and defence industry.
The AI-enabled e-Tarang System will enable automated, efficient planning and management of defence spectrum, as well as support the development of newer technologies in higher frequency bands.
According to defence ministry release, the software will improve planning for the interference-free operation of defence equipment during both wartime and peacetime.
The system reportedly integrates various communication systems and is part of broader initiatives to improve operational efficiency and coordination among different branches of the armed forces.
The meeting was conducted with the aim of achieving synergy in joint electronic warfare operations among the three services and establishing a roadmap to enhance capabilities in Spectrum Warfare.
The initiative is being seen as part of the ongoing initiatives to modernise India's military capabilities through technology and improve interoperability among its armed forces.
