Navy team carries injured woman on shoulders for 1 km to save her life in Odisha: Report

The woman had sustained injuries during a speedboat collision. A Navy team, which was conducting a recce in the river, came to her rescue

 A young woman, hailing from Odisha, who suffered major injuries in a speedboat collision in the Mahanadi river in Cuttack, was saved by the Indian Navy team that was conducting a recce in the river.

The incident took place on Friday.

According to a TNIE report, the 25-year-old woman, Nandini Das, sustained serious injuries on her head after she was hit by the propeller of one of the boats during the collision.

The Navy diving team, which was conducting the recce nearby in the river, saw the accident and rushed to the rescue of the woman.

Navy sources have been quoted as saying that the team members jumped in to rescue the woman. They ran nearly one kilometre carrying her on their shoulders and took her to the nearest police aid post.

As there was a delay in getting the ambulance, the Navy team transported the woman to a hospital in an auto-rickshaw. She was taken to SCB Medical College and Hospital.

The woman is out of danger and is undergoing treatment.
