China claimed that the US is the greatest threat to space security as it is militarising the domain.

According to a Global Times report, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang said the US has been deploying weapons that target satellites under the pretext of countering the Chinese threat. He was responding to a question about China developing various space weapons.

Zhang claimed that China supports the peaceful use of space and is against the arms race in the domain while the US sees it as "war-fighting domain".

Zhang urged the US to stop spreading irresponsible remarks, stop expanding its arsenal and making war preparations in space.

The space arms race is characterised by the development and potential deployment of military capabilities in space, particularly anti-satellite weapons. United States, Russia, and China are perceived to be primary players in the domain, even as it claims it is promoting the building of a community with a shared future for humankind in the field of space.
