India has made major leaps towards becoming a strong, secure and self-reliant nation, which is manufacturing state-of-the-art defence equipment and even exporting these to other countries, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said.
Addressing the convocation ceremony of IIMT University, Meerut in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, Singh said the youth has the potential to take India to even greater heights.
“Today, India is establishing itself as one of the strongest nations. Our youth can represent the country with new confidence and energy. If you possess an idea and skill-set and are ready to work hard, you will have no shortage of opportunities or resources."

Noting that the youth can play a major role in realising the national resolve of making India a developed nation, the defence minister said the strength of a nation lies in the knowledge, skills, and determination of its young minds.
With over 100 unicorns, India is shaping the future of innovation and entrepreneurship, Singh said, adding, "Today, India is witnessing transformation, innovation and dynamism. It is innovation and dynamism and ability for transformation that distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”
Further, he urged the youth to stay connected with the country’s history, culture and values, as these can provide valuable lessons in times of challenges and doubt.
