Actor Arya's highly publicised 'bride hunt' reality show 'Enga Veetu Mapillai’ ended on Tuesday. However, causing major disappointment to viewers and fans, Arya refused to choose 'his soulmate' from the final three contestants—Susana, Agatha and Seethalakshmi.
Justifying his decision, Arya said he did not want to hurt the other two girls by picking one. He also stated he needed more time to think about marriage and pick his life partner. The two-month long reality show saw 16 participants contesting to win Arya's heart and marry him. 'Enga Veetu Mapillai’ had kicked up a controversy earlier when actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, in one of the episodes, asked the participants that even though Arya—whose real name is Jamshad Cethirakath—would not expect it, were the women willing to convert to another religion?
Arya had earlier posted a matrimonial advertisement for himself on Twitter, requesting prospective brides to contact him. A video had also come out in which Arya said that he was not able to find the right woman to marry. In this video, he said that he had no conditions or expectations for his life partner. "If anyone likes me, or thinks he would be an ideal partner, they can call him on a number 7300173001. Don't consider this a prank or fake video”.
After all the hullabaloo around 'Enga Veetu Mapillai’, Arya's reaction at the finale angered viewers who feel deceived; the actor was widely trolled on social media.
